At its April Board Meeting, the Grey Power New Zealand Federation endorsed the campaign and is encouraging members to support the petition, which closes on July 1, 2026.
Campaign organisers say the senior housing crisis is worsening, with the number of people aged over 65 on the housing register increasing by 90 percent since 2020. They also note that only two percent of New Zealand homes currently meet accessibility standards.
